Alexey Sergeevich Mednonogov (Russian: Алексе́й Серге́евич Медноно́гов) was born on September 27, 1977, in the maternity home of Shaumyanovsky district (since 1990 — Khatainsky district) in Baku, Azerbaijan SSR, USSR. Parents — Sergey Vyacheslavovich Mednonogov and Larisa Veniaminovna Mednonogova . At that time his father served in this then Soviet republic as a military officer. Soon after child's birth, in 1979, the whole family moved to a place of father's new service assignment — to Hungary, Szolnok. In 1980 they left Szolnok for suburbs of Budapest, Matyasfold district (Hungarian: Mátyásföld), where the Southern group of armed forces (Russian: ЮГВ) was positioned. First conscious child memories of Alexey are connected with Budapest and the territory of the military base. In 1984 mom with two kids moved to Leningrad, while dad went on to fulfill his duties in Yerevan until he was relocated to Leningrad in 1985.

School years

In 1984 Alexey went to the first grade of school №281 in Leningrad with advanced studies of chemistry, most known by the fact that Vladimir Putin was studying there at a time. The school is located not far away from the «Tekhnologichesky institut» metro station, near the Trinity (Troitsky) Cathedral. In January 1985 he found himself in Children's hospital after Rauhfus with vertebral column fracture, where he stayed for a few months until he was transferred to the sanatorium in Strelna. In the sanatorium he finished his first grade. He started second grade in school №272 with advanced studies in English language that was situated a couple of hundred meters away from the previous one. Upon receiving a new flat the whole family moved to Krasnoselsky district, so he started fourth grade in school №397 with advanced studies in English language where he studied until graduation. He graduated from the secondary school with distinguished school-leaving certificate (silver medal).

University

In 1994 he was admitted for full-time studies at St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University, Faculty of Computer Science, Department of Computer-Aided Design as a student of group 4311, thus following the footsteps of his elder brother who graduated from the same department. He graduated in June 2000 and received an Engineer's Diploma (Диплом инженера in Russian).

Upon successfully passing selection procedure, he was admitted for full-time studies at Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland, Faculty of Computer Science as a participant of IMPIPT degree Program in Information Processing and Telecommunications. He graduated in December 2000 and received a M.Sc. degree (Diplomi-insinööri in Finnish). He has been living in Villmanstrand (Lappeenranta) since January 1999 until present (March 2012).

Hobbies

Upon becoming a smoke-free person on August 2, 2004, he participated in Nosmoking movement on Nosmoking.ru forum under Lesha nickname. Since quitting smoking, he became fond of cycling, running, swimming, gym, aikido. He possesses white belt in aikido (5th kyu) from Finland Aikikai Federation (sensei Erkki Hakala, 3rd dan).
